Obituary
Willie James Sykes, 61, Paducah, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011, 10:09 a.m., at Western Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Sykes was a member of Ninth Street Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Cairo High School and Paducah Community College where he received an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting and was a retiree of Martin Marietta Energy Systems.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy Will Sykes and Cleo Kyles Sykes., a sister, and three brothers.
He is survived by two sons Sean Sykes of Chicago, IL and Marlin DeBerry of Decatur, IL; one daughter Tiffany Gaston of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Sammy Sykes and Samuel Sykes, both of Providence, RI and Johnnie Sykes of Decatur, IL; two sisters, Fannie Mackins of Decatur, IL and Margaret Smith of Paducah; several grandchildren , nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, 2011, 3:00 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ with Mark Rowe officiating, and burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
