Obituary

Tongo Lynn Maxwell Miller took the hand of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 4, 2024, 2:09 P.M., from the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center of Paduch.  She was born July 29, 1960, in Paducah, KY, to loving parents, Harry Edward Maxwell, Jr. and Bernice Perry Maxwell. Her journey on this side of Glory lasted for 63 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Lynn, as she was lovingly known, was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the children's ministry.  A 1979 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, she was inducted into the KTCCCA Hall of Fame. An outstanding track athlete at Tilghman, her records in both the 100 and 200 - yard dash still stand in the State of Kentucky as the fastest. Her talent in track earned her an athletic scholarship to LSU. In addition to running track Lynn also enjoyed basketball and softball.

Lynn was formerly employed as a crane operator in the Ohio Steel Mill, but she found time to devout herself to community and church activities as well as her time spent cooking. She was a great cook, and owned and operated her own restaurant. She was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts for many years and a member of both the Blue Diamond Track Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She also loved painting angels and playing both spades and bid whist.

Lynn leaves to cherish her many fond memories:  One Special Daughter/Niece, Tar'Resha Garrett of Paducah, KY; Five Sisters, Twanda Maxwell and Tara Garrett, both of Paducah, KY, Marta Calhoun and Mary Feliece Garrett, both of Atlanta, GA; Carmen (Bo) Boclair of St. Louis, MO; Six Brothers, James Cannon (Pamela Daniels) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Jewell Maxwell of North Carolina, Terry Garrett of Macon, GA, Darnell Adams and Reginald (Alberta) Adams, both of St. Louis, MO, and Kenneth Adams of Jefferson City, MO; Three Grandsons, Trevin Garrett, Tre Jefferson, Jr., and Treston Garrett, all of Paducah, KY; Three Special Nephews, A'hmona Maxwell of Columbus, OH, Christopher Fountain of Waxahachie, TX, and Freddie Fountain of Paducah, KY; Two Aunts, Harriet Moody and Gertrude (Frank) Howard; Four Uncles, James (Jean) Maxwell, George (Debbie) Maxwell, Joseph Maxwell, and Gary K. Freeman; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends; and One Special Friend, Eddie Sanders of Paducah, KY.

Lynn was preceded in death by parents, Harry Edward Maxwell, Jr. and Bernice Perry Maxwell; maternal grandparents, Reverend Jewell Perry and Emma Mae Perry; paternal grandparents, Clara Ella Maxwell and Harry Edward Maxwell, Sr.; one aunt, Ja'Net Freeman and three uncles, Jewell H. Perry, Jr., Billy G. Perry, and Wayne H. Perry.
