Sylvester Ridgeway, Sr., born to the union of the late Sylvanus Rodgeway and Zettie E. Ridgeway on October 28, 1921, in Paducah, Kentucky. On Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 9:25 a.m., Sylvester Ridgeway, Sr. was called to his heavenly home from his daughter Janice Jackson's home in Lexington, Kentucky. At the time of his demise, he was 86 years, 4 months, and 28 days of age. He had been preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nellie M. Edwards Ridgeway and a sister.
Sylvester was a faithful member of Way of Christ Bible Fellowship Church and was a retired construction/sheet rock finisher for Gene Fisher. Sylvester, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, enjoyed gardening, fishing, and fellowshipping with his family.
Sylvester was united in holy matrimony to the former Nellie Mae Edwards on February 21, 1938. Their marriage vow of 67 years was carried out "Till death did them part".
