Obituary

Suzanne Hughes Bacon gracefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah. She was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on August 8, 1934, to the late Frank B. Hughes and the late Rosa Lee Harrison Hughes. At the time of her passing, she had acquired 91 years, 7 months and 17 days of life well lived.

Suzanne, a soft-spoken woman who never raised her voice, had a personality that encouraged everyone she knew. Her steadfast goal was to be a good example, never saying a bad word about anyone. She lovingly raised six children with the admonition to always be a blessing to someone because it’s not always about receiving.

She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah. where she served on the Mothers Board, the Missionary Society, Sunday School and was a former choir member. After retiring from Western Baptist Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant, she volunteered at Paducah Cooperative Ministries.

In her spare time, she loved going to flea markets, yard sales, and listening to gospel music.

Waiting to greet her at heaven’s gate were her husband, Harold G. Bacon, a daughter, Barbara Patton, two sons, Terry Roach and Girard Roach, two grandsons, Beri A. McDonald and Gary Lynn McDonald, and her parents.

Left behind to treasure precious memories of Suzanne are her Children, Rosalind Bass and Tracey Roach, both of Paducah, Kentucky, and James (Lisa) Roach of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Eight Grandchildren, Jeffrey Roach of Kannapolis, North Carolina, Joseph (Elisabeth) Patton of Joliet, Illinois, Kelley Patton of Sumter, South Carolina, Deangelo Roach of North Carolina, Terry Roach of Paducah, Kentucky, Dwight Roach of Metropolis, Illinois, Blake Roach of Fulton, Kentucky and Andre Williams; Several Great and Great-Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Brother and Sister-in-Laws and Friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 18, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Donna Newsome Hawkins officiating.  Friends also called on the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
