Rube Davis, Jr., 90, Paducah, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012, 10:25 pm, at his residence in Paducah, KY.
He was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He retired from the US Government as a General Service Administrator Building Carpentry Manager in Detroit, MI.
He was also a volunteer with the Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens, Inc. and the city of Paducah's Nuisance Code Enforcement Board. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Delois E. Davis of Paducah; one son, Crawford Eugene Davis, Decatur, IL; four step-children, Jerry A. Blake, Vanessa Blake and Jacqueline Blake, all of Detroit, MI, Minister Huey (Corliss) P. Blake of Atlanta, GA ; two granddaughters, Tenia (Brian) Ray of Decatur, IL and Vickie (Carlos) Jackson of St. Paul, MN; three great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rube Davis, Sr. and Lovie Mae Flowers Davis; his first wife, AlFrances Davis; two sisters, Helen Flowers and Louise Flowers; and two brothers, John Davis and Ainell Flowers.
Funeral service will be Monday, September 17, 2012, 12:00 Noon, at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend James L. Hudson will officiate, and entombment with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may also call at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home on Sunday, September 16, 2012, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on Monday at the church from 11:00 am until the funeral hour.
