Roosevelt Nunn, Jr., age 73, of Paducah, KY passed from earthly life to eternal rest on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Mercy Health-Lourdes in Paducah.
Roosevelt, affectionately known to family and friends as "Babe Boy" or "Rose" or "Dirty Rose" or "Roscoe", was a gentle soul who got along with everyone because he was truly "slow to anger".
He entered life on December 21, 1947, the third eldest of seven children born to Roosevelt Nunn, Sr. and Cora Lee Fair Nunn.
Roosevelt was a 1965 graduate of Lincoln High School where he excelled on the baseball field. He was a die-hard Louisville Cardinals fan, an avid supporter of the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club of Paducah, Inc., and he loved watching local high school sports of any kind.
Upon graduation from high school, Roosevelt gained employment at VMV Enterprises, formerly known as Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, from which he retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Until his health began to suffer, he was a faithful, active member of Ninth Street Church of Christ where he served as an usher and a driver for the church van.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Genola Tate Nunn; his second wife, Rosa Anderson Nunn; one daughter, Renee Nunn; two brothers, Alonzo Bonds and Terry G. Nunn; one grandson, Dru Patterson; and his parents Roosevelt Nunn, Sr. and Cora Lee Fair Nunn.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons , Julian "Champ" (Kazuyo) Nunn of San Diego, CA, Larry (Belinda) Nunn, Lee (Tara) Patterson, and Eric (Barbara) Patterson, all of Paducah; one daughter , Tracey Nunn of Paducah; 16 grandchildren , Adonis Nunn, Brittany Nunn, both of San Diego, CA, Darrius Spivey-Nunn, Gaelon Spivey-Nunn, Talyce Patterson, Taylee Patterson, Leyton Patterson, Jackie Harris, Modesty Nunn, Tracell Nunn, Jarel Nunn, Demacho Tate, all of Paducah; Taryn Patterson of Nashville, TN, Robert Redding of Leavenworth, KS, Eric Patterson, Jr. and Erica Patterson both of Jackson, TN; 18 great-grandchildren ; two brothers , Clarence (Melanie) Nunn and Marvin Nunn, both of Paducah; two sisters , Carolyn (Oscar) Henderson of Southfield, MI, Vanessa (Guy) Jones of Paducah; two sisters-in-law , Linda Sue Bonds, and Neffallie Anderson both of Paducah; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2021, 3:00 P.M. at Ninth Street Church of Christ, 716 S. 9th Street, Paducah with Brother Mark Rowe officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation with the family will be at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
All attendees must wear a mask.
