Obituary

Robert Jeffery Simmons was born January 9, 1960, and passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 1:15 p.m.

Robert, affectionately called "Bobby" by both family and friends, was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and attended Draughon's Business College.

He worked as a cook at Shandies and for the Pork Peddler for many years and had received much praise for his cooking. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to Contemporary (Smooth) Jazz. He liked to watch the TV Soap Shows (General Hospital, etc.). Robert never married or had any children, but he did enjoy being an uncle, great uncle, and a great great-uncle. One of his favorite things to do was to send greeting cards, for all seasons, to his family, the Rolling Town neighborhood mothers and to his friends. Robert was not in this modern world. He had a cell phone which he rarely used. I lovingly joked with him, "I can find information on your dead great grandmother online; even she is on the internet. Get up to speed man." Robert was a gentle soul. He had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curley Alvin Simmons, Sr. and Marie Eleanor Keys Simmons, his sister Janet A. Williams Thomas and his brother, Curley Alvin Simmons, Jr.

He is survived by one sister , Pamela (Winston) J. Simmons Stephens and one brother , Samuel Dale Simmons, both of Nashville, TN ; nephews , Michael (Leslie) Thomas of Frankfort, KY , Auntoine (Ellen) Simmons of Paducah, KY , and Winston M. Stephens II of Nashville, TN ; nieces , Tina Marie Phillips of Dallas, TX and Veronica Stephens Anderson of Nashville, TN ; great nephews , Tylere Stephens of Nashville, TN and Chase Johnson of Paducah, KY ; great nieces , Ebony D. Stephens of Nashville, TN , Janet Phillips of Cincinnati, OH , Candice Phillips of Dallas, TX , Anyah Johnson and Nova Johnson, both of Paducah, KY ; great great-nephews , Tristan C. Brown and Mikele C. Stephens, both of Nashville, TN ; and a host of cousins , especially James C. Moore of the Washington, D.C. area and Kathy Dillard of Paducah, KY , and friends .

There will be no service; however, there will be a private burial at a later date.
