Obituary

Robert Dennis Hawkins , age 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at the VA Medical Center of Indianapolis Indiana.

Mr. Hawkins was the first-born child of Mr. Henderson Hawkins, Sr. and Mrs. Martha Virginia Stephens Hawkins. He was born on December 31, 1947, in Savannah, Tennessee. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Mr. Robert Stephens.

Mr. Hawkins served in the United States Army. He was a retiree of the Tennessee Valley Authority as a material tester. He was a self-taught, creative artist who specialized in painting and drawing. He was a gifted chef who enjoyed preparing delicious meals for his family and friends. He mentored and educated family, friends, and individuals in recovery.

He is survived by: One Son , Derrick L. Hawkins of Cedar Grove, Alabama and Four Daughters , Monica R Hawkins Moore of Hollywood, Alabama , Cicely D. Hawkins of Jasper, Tennessee , Racien Hawkins-Byrd of Fort Smith, Arkansas , and Robin E. Hawkins of Gallatin, Tennessee ; Fifteen Grandchildren ; Six Great-Grandchildren; Two Brothers , Henderson Hawkins, Jr. and Samuel K. Hawkins, both of Paducah KY ; Three Uncles , One Aunt and Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins , and Friends .

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leslie H. Hawkins and Gregory S. Hawkins, Sr., one sister, Veloria V. Hawkins McClellon, son-in-law, Karl Moore, and grandchild, Laraya Byrd.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home with Deacon Henderson Hawkins officiating.
