Richard Joe George, age 64, of Brookport, IL, passed away, Saturday, February 15, 2020, 4:04 a.m., at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He was a member of North Crockett Street Church of Christ in Brookport, IL and was formerly employed with the Forest Hills Housing Authority in maintenance. He was a graduate of Brookport High School and attended West Kentucky Vocational School where he was certified in carpentry. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife , Vanessa George of Brookport, IL ; four sons , Eric George of Paducah, John "Jay" Matchem of Louisville, Nathan Bergmann and Ryan George, both of Springfield, IL; two step-sons , Weston Snow and Daniel Snow, both of Springfield, IL; two, grandchildren; four brothers , Kenneth L. George of Lakeland, FL and James W. George, Charles E. George, and John B. George, all of Brookport, IL; two sisters , Pamela Porter of Brookport, Il and Rita V. Houston of Paducah; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Laverne George and Ruby Evelyn Swope and a brother.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at North Crockett Street Church of Christ in Brookport with William Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
