Obituary

Reverend Alfred L. Freeman, age 62 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at approximately 6:31 p.m. at his residence.

He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an Associate Minister, Usher, an on the Culinary Committee and was a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was formerly employed by the Shawnee Steam Plant with the Local Laborer Union #1214. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Freeman was preceded in death by his father, Garfield Green, his mother Lena Freeman Martin, his step-father, Edgar Martin Sr. and two brothers.

Survivors include, his wife, Lois M. Wade Freeman, Metropolis, Il; three sons, Alfredo Freeman, Paducah, KY, Derrence Freeman, Chattanooga, TN and Jonathan Wade, Metropolis, Il; Nine Grandchildren; three brothers, Donnie Ray Freeman, Wichita, KS, Eddie Green and Garfield Green, Jr. both of Paducah, KY; three sisters, Charlene Barnes and Myra Arnold both of San Antonio, TX; and Mary White of Paducah, KY; two Step-Brothers, Edgar Martin, Jr., Brookport, Il and Isaac Martin of Metropolis, Il; three Step-sisters, Mary Turley, Gurnee, IL, Freda Phelps and Veronica Draw both of Paducah, KY; three aunts, Ethel Coffie, and Dorothy Crim both of Paducah, KY and Clem Dabney-Thomas of Oceanside, CA; two uncles, Abraham Freeman , Indianapolis, IN and George Freeman, Rapid City, SD; a brother-in-law, Reverend Michael Wade, Paducah, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012,12 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church in Metropolis, Il with Reverend Michael Wade officiating. Special visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Burial with military rites will be conducted on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Il.
