On February 22, 2010, 11:45 a.m., Percy Lucious Howard was called from his residence in Metropolis, Illinois to eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. At the time of his demise, he was 76 years, 01 month, and 27 days of age. He was born the son of the late Lucioush Howard and Beatrice Tillmon Howard on December 25, 1933 in Paducah, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by his sister Minnie B. Howard.
Percy, lovingly called "PL" by both family and friends alike, was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Metropolis, Illinois, where her served as Deacon and Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was a Veteran of both the US Army and the US Navy. He served during the Lorean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. Percy was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Chapman College.
Percy (PL) enjoyed reading, weight-lifting, and jogging. He was both a counselor and presenter for the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs. Ranked as a Sergeant, PL was a retiree of the Vienna Correctional Complex where he served as a Departmental Correctional Prison Guard.
PL was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A teaser, PL joked around with many, put-ting smiles on the faces of those around him.
