On Sunday, February 14, 2010, Pauline Townley, enjoyed a day of fun, laughter, and enjoyment with her daughters, son-in-law, granddaughters, great great-grandson, cousins, and friends before retiring for a night of rest and relaxation at her daughter Carolyn's home. She bid her family good night and lay down for her night's rest. While she slumbered her heavenly Father looked to earth and saw his very special child Pauline. He smiled and dispatched one of his angels to earth to bring her to His Heavenly home for eternal rest. At 7:58 a.m., on Monday February 15, 2010, after her transition to heaven, Pauline awakened, opened her eyes and beheld God's face. At 98 years, 6 months, and 29 days of age, she was home at last, ever to rejoice. Pauline was born July 16, 1911, in Ballard County, Kentucky, the lovely daughter of the late Tom Townley and Mollie Cox Townley.
Affectionately known as "Mama Pauline" by the membership, Pauline was a very faithful, dedicated, and oldest member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a member and former president of the Missionary Society, the Church Clerk for 27 years, a Mother of the Church, and was a former member of the Choir. She was also the oldest of the West Kentucky Green Valley District and very active in all its activities until her health began to fail. Pauline received Fairview's "Mother's Award," an "Honored Senior" award, a plaque for serving 27 years as Church Clerk, and was an honored 8th of August Senior Citizen of the W.C. Young Community Center.
Pauline worked for the Kevil Tele-Service for over 20 years, Harold's Café for 11 years, and the Ballard County Senior Citizens' Center for 5 years.
Pauline had a great love for sewing and quilting. She enjoyed traveling with friends and working in the yard planting and caring for her flowers. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger, was a friend to many, and was always willing to help anybody she could. Pauline cherished wearing stylish hats and adorning her jewelry as she traveled to churches and various functions with her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Theodore. Most of all Pauline was very well known for her baking, especially her caramel cakes, buttermilk chess pies, jam cakes, black berry dumplings, and four-flavored pound cakes. We dare not mention her chicken and dressing, turnip greens, and sweet potatoes that made a person's taste buds beat him to the table.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy Townley and Mollie Cox Townley; one brother, Robert Townley, and two nephews, Robert Townley, Jr. and Audrey Townley
