Paul Lawrence Dunbar entered into eternal rest at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 3 days on Friday, October 18, 2019, 5:20 a.m., from the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Illinois. Paul was born to his loving parents, the late Clarence Henry Dunbar, Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Williams Dunbar, on September 15, 1941, in Brookport, Illinois. He has also been preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was of the Baptist faith and attended Greater Love Baptist Church until he could no longer drive himself to the church services. He was a high school graduate who went on to become certified as a welder.

Paul was a loving and kind-hearted person. He always made himself available to any and every one, especially to his family and friends. He loved and took pride in working on cars and was the owner and operator of Paul & Sons Repair Shop.

Memorial Services will be held here at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at 2:30 pm.
