Mildred L. Scruggs, 87, of Paducah, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, 2:55 pm, at Superior Care Home Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah.

Mildred was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully attending the 8AM Worship Service. Her profession as a licensed registered nurse spanned for 41 years at the former Riverside Hospital and Western Baptist Hospital. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Meharry Medical College .

Mildred was a long-time dedicated member of the Civi-Mu-So-Lit Club where she held many positions including President in 1992-1993. She also was a Duchess of Paducah.

Mildred is survived by her son Kenneth L. (Beverly) Scruggs and one grandson Kenneth L. Scruggs, Jr., and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie B. Scruggs and parents Emery Marable and Grace Holt Marable.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 24, 2014, 11:00 am, at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James L. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 23, 2014, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour.
