Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Margretta Coleman Jones peacefully departed this life on May 24, 2021. She passed away surrounded by love at her daughter's residence in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Jones was 90 years old. We, as her family, asked our Heavenly Father to allow her to see her 90 th birthday and He granted our heart's desire before taking her to eternal rest.

She was the fourth child born to the union of the late Verney Coleman Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Dickerson Coleman in Memphis, Tennessee.   As a young adult, Mildred followed her brother, Verney Jr., and moved to Paducah, Kentucky.

Mrs. Jones had a servant's heart and lived her life to be pleasing in the sight of God. She served in private homes as a housekeeper, personal caregiver, and social entertainment server for over fifty years. Mildred was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and she was honored to be a doorkeeper, serving her church as an usher, attended Sunday School, weekly Bible study, and Sunday Services.

Upon retirement, Mrs. Jones relocated to Louisville, Kentucky in 2015. She united with St. Stephen Baptist Church to continue her spiritual journey. She was an active participant in weekly services and joined the "Over the Hill Gang" senior ministry. She was a dedicated member and truly enjoyed the fellowship. She never wanted to miss an opportunity to gather with the senior saints of the church.

Mrs. Jones, throughout her earthly journey, enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad including a visit to the Holy Land. She also loved shopping, listening to music, and cooking. Her ultimate past time and love was watching "Judge Judy". Mrs. Jones was a pleasant, affectionate, fun-loving, and fashion minded lady. She was a blessing and a joy to be around.

She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband; Tommie Jones, her parents; Verney and Emma Elizabeth Coleman. Three sisters; Odessa Coleman, Lucille Frazier, and Jean King. One brother; Verney Coleman Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters; Patricia Walker of Cortland, Ohio and Sandra White (Mark) of Louisville, Kentucky. One sister; Evelyn Dockins of Edgewater Park, New Jersey. One sister-in-law; Lillie Mae Davis of St. Louis, Missouri. Three grandchildren; Reginald Nance, Kimberly Walker, and Christina White. Five great-grandchildren; Cameron, Annalisa, Ciann, Danija, Reynasia, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special pet companion "Kash".

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

2Timothy 4:7-8
