Obituary

After having been granted and blessed with an earthly life of 69 years, 1 month and 28 days, Michael Lee Beene was called to his Heavenly Home from Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  He was born in Chicago, IL on March 18, 1954, to his loving parents, James LoRenzy Beene and Mary Alice Johnson Beene Warford.

Michael was certified as a carpenter in Chicago, IL and was well-known for his skills as a chef.

Michael was a devoted family-oriented man who loved his whole family including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was especially fond of sports, especially basketball of which the Chicago Bulls was his favorite team.  Michael was an avid board game player and was a sport at playing "Monopoly", "Trouble" and "Operation"; he even had a different game he would play with each grandchild.  Michael even enjoyed watching western movies.  Attending family reunions was one thing he looked forward to doing because he loved the fellowship that was had by all especially with his best friend, his grandfather, James LoRenzyn Benne I.  Michael missed very few of those memorable family gatherings and wanted the closeness and mentorship he shared with his grandfather to continue through his grandchildren.  As a chef, Michael loved to cook and made an abundance of homemade dishes from scratch.  The one thing that kept his satisfied was that he marveled over being the only boy out of three girls in his family.

Michael is survived by his 4 Sons, Brandon Shoales, Justin Shoales, and Donnelle Shoales, all of Kentucky and Melvin Shoales of  Oklahoma; One Daughter, Tiffany Shoales (Robert) Brooks of Kentucky; Twelve Grandchildren, Vernita Woolridge, Jasmine Shoales, Tamara Wricks, Amber Brooks, Skylar Brooks, Maleah Shoales, Kaila Shoales, Elijah Kindle, Halo Russell, Carson Shoales,  James Shoales, Melvin Shoales, Jr.; Several Great-Grandchildren; Three Sisters, Shirley Ann (John) Williams and Dorothy Beene-Thompson, both of Illinois and Janet Louise Tate of Ohio; A Special Uncle, John Johnson of Tennessee; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins including a Special Nephew, James "Boz" LoRenzy III.

Michael Lee Beene's legacy of love and friendship will be cherished by all who knew and loved him was the wonderful person he was.
