Melvin Wade Merritt Jr., age 73, of Paducah passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, 12:48 p.m. at Riverhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah.

He was employed for several years with the United States Postal Service and was a truck driver for a moving company.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam Era.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Merritt, Sr., his mother, Lelia Holmes; his step-mother, Bernice Merritt and a brother.

Survivor's  include three sons , Melvin Merritt III of Baltimore, MD, Christopher (Charmaine) Merritt of Raeford, NC and Michael (Charise) Merritt of Paducah, KY; one daughter , Marika Merritt of Paducah; fifteen Grandchildren; five great-grandchildren ; one  niece and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, 12 noon at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Wade officiating.

Burial will follow at a later date in Owings, Mill Baltimore County, Maryland.

Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Masks are required for all in attendance.
