Obituary

Melvie L. Cork Lowery, age 75, of Paducah, KY, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO, at 9:10 am.

She was formerly employed by the Supreme Life Insurance Company and Bright's Department Store, and was a volunteer at Western Baptist Hospital in the gastrology department. She retired as a Kynar Chemical Operator from Arkema Chemicals, Inc. in Calvert City, KY. She was recently employed by Sam's Club/Crosswalk until her health failed.

She was a dedicated member of Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church, serving on the Senior Usher Board and the Faith and Food Ministry. She was also a member of Pamper Inc. and served on the W.C. Young Community Center Board of Directors. She served on the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and the 8th of August Committee's and was a member of the Civi-Mu-So-Lit Organization..

She is survived by One Son, Elder James "Jimmy" Crawford, Sr. of Paducah; One Granddaughter, Twyler Crawford- Moore of Atlanta, GA; One Grandson, James Crawford III. of Paducah; Four Great-Grandsons, Jaylen Sanders and Clarence E. Moore III. both of Atlanta, GA, and James "Bubba" Crawford III and Janas Crawford both of Paducah; One Great-Granddaughter, Jameya Crawford of Paducah; Two Sisters, Mary Newbern of Paducah and Kathy Hill of Eddyville, Ky; Three Brothers, Albert Hill, Jr., Bill Hill and Carter Hill aii of Paducah; One Daughter-In-Law, Vinora Crawford of Paducah; One Grandson-In-Law, Clarence E. Moore, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Cork and Lucille Cork Hill, her grandparents, two sisters, one brother, and her step-father.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2015, at the Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the church where friends may call at 11:00 am until the funeral hour. Reverend Raynarldo Henderson will officiate and entombment will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
