Mattie Jean Walker, affectionately known as "Jean", left this earthly life for eternal rest on November 21, 2009, 3:37 P. M., at Medco Center of Paducah. Jean was born to the late Clarence Otto Parker and Mattie Mae Young Parker on December 29, 1937, in Muhlenberg County, KY. At the time of her demise, Jean was 71 years, 10 months, and 22 days old.

Jean was a member of Rosary Chapel, where she was a member of the Women's Club, was a Lector and a sponsor for Faith Formation. She and her husband Emmitt were sponsors for the Marriage Ministry Team and served on the Culinary Committee. She was the recipient of the "Sophia Award" in Owensboro, Kentucky, for outstanding service as a member of Rosary Chapel.

Jean graduated from Drakesboro Community High School in 1956 and attended Kentucky State University. She retired as a Teacher's Assistant from West Kentucky State Vocational School in 1995.

Jean enjoyed cooking, bird watching and traveling. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family and her dear and closest friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always pleasant with a smile, and her doors were open to everyone.

Emmitt was affectionately called "Da Daddy" and Jean was affectionately called "Da Mommy"

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt E. Walker; her parents, Clarence Otto Parker and Mattie Mae Young Parker; four brothers and one sister.

One Granddaughter: Alyssa Renee Walker, Louisville, KY

One Grandson: Brandon Lamar Lee, Paducah

One Great Grandson: Joshua Elijah Hayden, Louisville, KY

One Brother: Bill (Carolyn) Parker, Paducah
