Maryland Jerneice Avery Johnson, 88 of Paducah, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, 4:44 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah.

She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Mother's Board, Usher Ministry and Choir. She was an Honorary Member of Queen Esther Chapter #4, Order of the Eastern Star and a retiree from Union Carbide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Jefferson Daniel Avery and Evie Burns Avery; husband, Robert Johnson; two sons, Glenn Pollard and Jerry Don Johnson; two grandchildren; one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by one son ; Gary D. Johnson of Paducah; one daughter, Joyce Ann Carr, Nashville, TN; two sisters, Mildred Waterman of Toledo, OH, Mai Atkin of New York, NY; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2018, 12 noon, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Donna G. Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may also call on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour with Eastern Star Rites conducted at 11:15 a.m.
