"O, give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 107:1
Mary Ezell Lowery was called home from her residence to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 7:35 p.m. At the time of her demise, she was 63 years and 6 months of age. Mary Pearl Coleman was born the lovely daughter of the late Joe Coleman and Moriah (Fred) Essex on January 22, 1946, in Catherine, Alabama. She was also preceded in death by her brother Leonard Essex.
Mary was a member and a minister of Ninth Street Tabernacle Ministries, serving the Lord faith-fully until her death. Mary knew the voice of the Lord and obediently answered each time He called. Sharing the Word of God and sharing life's lessons, she lovingly ministered from her heart to all who came her way. Many affectionately called her "Mom" for the love and wisdom she shared with them.
Through her ministry she shared with her husband, John H. Lowery, she touched many lives at the Parkview Nursing Home. Mary graduated from Central High School in Mobile, Alabama. Her love of hair led her to pursue a career in cosmetology. Mary later answered the call of marriage to Joe Ezell. God had given her her first assignment. Diligently working to fulfill her assignment, Mary was a good wife and raised four beautiful children. While fulfilling her duties as a mother, she sought to continue her education and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Cosmetology from Dudley University. Mary had a love for the Lord, a love which she demonstrated through her hands. With loving kindness, she ministered to her many clients through her business at the "Latest Look Beauty Salon" where she was not only a stylist, but the manager as well. Mary also became a member of the National Hairdressers of Congress and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mary was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and a beloved grandmother. She had a special care and love for people. She enjoyed singing and cooking and was a 4-H Leader.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Coleman and Mariah Davis and one brother Leonard Essex.
Hearing again the voice of the Lord, Mary Lowery answered once more by responding, "Here I am Lord, I'm ready." Leaving behind to celebrate her life are:
