Mary Princess Benberry Lunceford entered her Immortal Life from the Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center in Mt. Vernon, KY, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, 3:03 a.m., at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 10 days. She was born the lovely daughter to the late Shandy Benberry and Mattie Faulks Benberry in Paducah, KY, on December 4, 1952.
Mary was a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church where in her earlier years served as the musician and sung in the choir. While residing in Louisville, Kentucky Mary attended the Shekinah Glory Church and was a member of the Women's Organization whose council was instrumental in the Feeding Program for the Homeless. Mary was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, attended the former Draughon's Business College, and received certification as a Licensed Cosmetologist and became self-employed doing her skill.
Mary had a deep love for her beloved grandchildren and was one who was set on helping others who were in need. She enjoyed watching Sc-Fi programs., sewing, singing, playing her piano, and most of all, shopping. Mary loved cooking food and was quite fond of styling in her blonde wigs.
She leaves many memories to Her Husband , Johnnie Lunceford of Paducah, KY; , Three Sons , Jimi (Marlena) Shaw, Jr. and Donta' (LaToya) Shaw, both of Paducah, KY and Core'y Lunceford of Hampton, VA; 19 Grandchildren ; 28 Great-Grandchildren ; One Brother , Reverend Joseph (Tiffany) Benberry of Paducah, KY; Three Sisters , Sandra Walker of Louisville, KY, Lucy Perry of Nashville, TN, and Joanah Hobbs Yates of Lexington, KY; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a Wide Circle of Friends .
Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Isaac Hobbs, four sisters, Maxine Benberry, Onnia Gayle Benberry-Brown, Theodora Ann Benberry and Reverend Karlyn Young, grandmother, Nettie Beasley-Crawford; one aunt, Marion Muce; special cousin Anthony Moss and other relatives.
Mary Princess Benberry Lunceford will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Joseph Benberry and Reverend Dr. Michael J. Moss officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
