Mary Lee Akins Thomas was born in Bath Springs, Tennessee on June 11, 1920 and departed this life on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Providence Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington, KY.   She was a faithful member of the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Metropolis, IL.

She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters; Bobbie (Cecil) Craig; Mary Hansen; Hazel Tole; Carolyn (Sam) McManus; Linda (Mickey) Lowry; and Sudie Cofield.

Two sons:  Dr. C. B. (Roszalyn) Akins; and Franklin (Ruby) Brasher.  One daughter-in-law, Willa Akins; One sister-in-law, Jo Martha Clark;  14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 20 great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, 906 Pearl Street Metropolis, IL from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Youth Department of the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.
