Marvin Walter Martin was born the bouncing baby boy to the late Marvin Walters and Mattie Bell Martin in Clinton, Kentucky on November 2, 1970. He became the joy and pride of his family as he grew into adulthood. At the time of his demise, he was 42 years, 11 months, and 7 days old. He was also preceded in death by grandparents, sister, father-in-law James Wade, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Knowing that his life would not be complete without a personal Savior as his guide, Marvin joined and was baptized into the St. John Missionary Baptist Church family under the pastorate of Reverend Wendell D. Gray. Wherever life may have taken him, Marvin never strayed away from God's word. After moving to Houston, Texas, Marvin joined the Refreshing Church under the pastoral guidance of Pastor John Murray. Marvin was an organizer and founder of the church's youth ministry and was the Church's Purple Team leader.
Marvin attended the Carlisle County School System in Bardwell, Kentucky. He was a 1989 graduate and participated in the basketball program where he scored a total of 360 points during his three year career. Marvin furthered his education at Johnson & Wales University's College of Culinary Arts in Charlotte, NC. He received his degree and joined the Marriott Sadexho Services where he had worked diligently for 20 years. He was presently showcasing his leadership skills at the Prairie View A&M University in Houston as a Retail Operations Manager. Marvin pleased many many peoples' appetites with his deliciously prepared dishes and desserts. He was even requested back to Kentucky to prepare for Kentucky State University's Presidential Affairs.
On October 9, 2013, 7:30 P.M., at Memorial Herman Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas Marvin Walter Martin at the age of 42 years, 11 months, and 7 days, heard the voice of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say, "You have fought the good fight, you have finished your course, and you have kept your faith; come and receive your crown of righteousness which I give to you, and not only you, but to all those who love my appearing". As he looked into his Savior's eyes, Mar-vin took his Lord's hand and heard him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant; enter thou unto the joy of thy Lord".
Therefore, Marvin leaves to cherish and hold dear his many fond memories:
