Obituary

MALCOLM T. WILSON, 66, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Paducah, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 30, 2011.

He was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School and received degrees from Kentucky State University, Murray State University and was completing his doctorate at the University of Memphis. He was a former Counselor at Paducah Community College, Dean of Students at East Arkansas Community College and Dean of Students at Penn Valley Community College. Malcolm retired in 2007 after serving as President of Metropolitan Community College Blue River.

He was a member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, a Lifetime member of the NAACP, a member of the Urban League and served on many boards, commissions and councils. He was a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity Theta Boule.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris Reeves Wilson of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Yvette Wilson Moore of Marion, AR; a son Eric Wilson, Kansas City , MO; 2 granddaughters; 2 great-grandchildren; a step-mother Dorothy McNeil of Kansas City, MO; one brother, James Wilson of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Mary Virginia Glenn of Suisan , CA; an uncle; three aunts; one niece; one great-nephew; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Johnnie Mae Wilson and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Washington Street, Paducah, KY, with Reverends Raynarldo Henderson and Johnny Shanklin officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to Malcolm T. Wilson Difference Maker Scholarship Fund, MCC Foundation, 3200 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111.
