Obituary
Lurlene Pierce Edmonds, of Cairo, IL, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, 11:50 pm, at Baptist Health of Paducah.
She was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Cairo where she served as a Mother of the church and on the culinary committee.
She was formerly employed as a dietary aide and supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo until its closure.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Ronald Pierce of Harvey, Illinois and Del'Shannon McAllister of Milwaukee, WS; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Hood of Cairo, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband DeManuel Edmonds, one son, Eugene Pierce, her parents, Leonard Pierce and Frances Howard Brooks; two sisters and eight foster sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2016, 12 o'clock noon at the First Missionary Baptist Church-Washington Avenue of Cairo, Illinois. Rev. Brian Gadson will officiate with burial to follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Massie Funeral Home, 429 Oakley Lane of Mounds Illinois on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 5pm-7pm.
Friends may call at the First Missionary Baptist Church-Washington Avenue on Saturday, March 5, 2016 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
