Obituary

Linda Scroggins, age 74, of Paducah, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 10:34 pm at Baptist Health of Paducah. Linda was born on May 21, 1950, to the parents of the late Fred Nolen and Frances Duncan Nolen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Benson Scroggins, a granddaughter, Jaynay Ray, one brother, Bruce Nolen, and four sisters, Shirley Nolen, Freda Davis, Betty Beech, and Karen Nolen.

Linda was a devoted Christian. As a former member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, she served in the culinary department and on the Mothers' Board. Later, she joined Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah where she served faithfully.

Linda received an associate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Louisville. However, she was well known throughout McCracken County for her skills in the kitchen. Her yeast rolls were to die for! For more than 35 years she worked in the McCracken County Jail as a Deputy Jailer and cook, eventually becoming the Supervisor of Culinary. In addition to cooking, she was an excellent seamstress and was considered a Master of the art.

She was active in the community through her participation with the Red Hatters and was named a Duchess of Paducah by the city.

In her leisure time she liked to shop, but her love was spread through her service to others. She liked to mentor people and considered herself a mother to all. Her love for the Lord was carried out through her commitment to live and love for Him.

Linda is survived by One Son, Benson (Antoinette) Ray of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Three Daughters, Jenniffer (Don) Bryant, Jacquelyn Scroggins, both of Paducah, Kentucky, and bonus daughter, Breanna Robinson of Jeffersonville, Indiana; 22 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Two Brothers, Fred (Wanda) Nolen of Temple Hill, Maryland, Anthony (Lisa) Nolen of Louisville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
