Leslie Vance Smith Sr., 67, of Paducah, died July 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Smith was a graduate of the former Lincoln High School and of the West Kentucky State Vocational School where he was certified in electronics. He was a retiree of Tower Mountain Water Company and was formerly employed as a Postal Clerk with the United States Post Office, and was supervisor of the grounds and field crew at the New Orleans Superdome.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Arthur Smith, Sr. and Mamie Pryor Smith and a brother.

Smith is survived by his daughter Myra L. (Sweet Pea) Smith of Nashville, TN; his son Leslie Vance Smith, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren; a brother, Byron A. Smith of Houston, TX; four sisters, Patricia Smith and Jerri M. Smith, both of Paducah, Myra Smith Hooks of Shorter, AL, and Terri L. Smith of Nashville, TN; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, August10, 2009, at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home, 1229 Madison Street, Paducah. Leslie V. Smith Jr. will officiate.
