Obituary

On Wednesday morning, May 27, 2009, at 1:50 a.m., Lerline Weatherspoon McEwen gently closed her eyes and entered into eternal rest at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY. At the time of her demise, she was 72 years, 9 months, and 28 days of age.

Lerline was born the lovely daughter to the late Lois Weatherspoon and Lena Bell Crumble on July 29, 1936 in Oakton, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 10 years, Thomas J. (T.J.) McEwen; her son James Luten; her sister Ada Hopson; her three brothers Robert Weatherspoon, Joe Weatherspoon, and L.T. Weatherspoon; and her granddaughter Natasha L. Wilson.

Lerline joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later joined the St. James
Christian Methodist Episcopal Church family in 1986, where she served as former Superintendent of Sunday School. She currently served as Secretary of the Mildred Allen Senter Missionary Society, Treasurer for the Choir, President of Stewardess, and served on the Culinary Arts Committee. She dearly loved her church and was a faithful member until death. She was recognized with a certificate of attendance for her dedicated attendance, a certificate of recognition for General Church School Superintendent, a Service Award for her loyal and faithful service for many years, and recognized for her dedicated service to the Mildred Allen Senter Missionary Society.

She also attended the Church Women United meetings and was a former member of the Clinton Community Service Club. Lerline loved flowers, cooking, baking, sewing, and fishing. She was always so appreciative of whatever anyone did for her. Lerline was sweet to everyone, was appreciative of whatever anyone did for her, and in return, she was loved by all who knew her.

After 20 years employment, Lerline retired from Garan Manufacturing and later became a private home health sitter in the Paducah area.
