Obituary

Lazeric Dion Shumpert, age 29, passed away on June 8, 2026, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who loved him deeply.

 Lazeric was known for his love of sports, especially football and basketball. He enjoyed playing video games and treasured the time he spent with family and friends. His presence brought laughter, companionship, and memorable moments to those fortunate enough to know him.

 He was preceded in death by his mother Tonya Renee Johnson, and Grandfather Joe Tilley.

Lazeric leaves behind his biological father, Paul Shumpert; and his devoted stepfather, Craig Johnson, who lovingly raised him throughout his life. He is also survived by his stepmother, Tammy Johnson, of Jackson, Tennessee.

He is survived by his brothers, Palise Neal of Decatur, Illinois; Jamauryion Browne of Jackson, Tennessee; Craig Johnson Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky; and Trey Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by his sisters, Amber Arrington; Lauren Hobbs of Nashville, Tennessee; Jessica Tolbert and Mekenzie Hobbs both of Paducah, Kentucky; Elexus Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky; and Makiya Browne of Jackson, Tennessee.

 Lazeric's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Though his time here was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain a lasting source of comfort and strength. 

Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day.

A Celebration of Life for Lazeric will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, 12 Noon at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home.
