Lawanda McKinney, born August 12, 1955, was the daughter of Wardell Drake and Karen Springer Cogdell. She went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 5, 2024, at Baptist Health in Paducah.  At the time of her passing, she had lived for 69 years, 2 months, and 23 days.

Lawanda was a dedicated and faithful member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Assistant Church Secretary.

Lawanda was known for her passion and ability to spread love everywhere she went. She possessed a very humble spirit, and she truly loved children and bringing joy to them. Her kindness and humility resulted in family members only knowing her as a loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. One of her favorite ways to relax was to watch HGTV.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Parris McKinney, her father, Wardell Drake, and a brother, Dwayne Franklin Springer.

Lawanda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Henrietta Owens officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
