Lauretta Marie, 'Peter Rabbit', Motley Hollis quietly departed this earthly life from Baptist Health in Paducah, KY at 11:03 am, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Lauretta was born January 2, 1945, in Oakton, KY, to the late Willie Motley and Lula Mae Crumble Thorpe. Since her birth, she had travelled life's highway here on earth for 79 years, 7 months and 5 days.
Lauretta was a faithful and dedicated member of Rosary Chapel Catholic Church. She served faithfully as on the Usher Board, the Social Activities Committee, and the Finance Committee. Lauretta was also one of the favorite Gift Bearers, known as the "Candy Lady", who would so graciously give out candy to the many youths of the church.
Lauretta attended early education at Milton Schools in Fulton, KY and graduated from Fulton City High School in 1962. She received a degree in Cosmetology and Business Administration from West Kentucky Community and Technical College (formerly West Kentucky Vocational Training School) and worked many years with Mrs. Pat Robinson. She was employed for many years with the United States Enrichment Corporation (formally Union Carbide) as an Industrial Hygienist where she remained until her retirement.
Lauretta was an avid bowler and was a member of the Pacesetters Bowling League where she won several tournaments. She loved life, her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grands. She had a heart of gold and was so well loved by both her family and friends and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.
In February 1966, she married the love of her life, Johnny Hollis, and continued wedded bliss until his death in June 2023. To this union, they shared one son, Anthony Hollis, Sr.
Funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, 12 noon at Rosary Chapel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the church.
