Josephine Barnes, age 95, of Paducah, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, 3:34 p.m., at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

She was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Mother's Ministry, the Mission Ministry, the Nursing Home Ministry, and the Culinary Committee. She was also a member of the Church Women's United, the Friends of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and the McCracken County Homemakers and was an active 4-H leader.

Josephine was a retired Pediatric Nurse of the former Western Baptist Hospital.

She is survived by a brother Philmore Artis of Portsmouth, VA., several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband , Stanford Barnes; her parents , Elliott Artis and Mary Catherine Lawrence Artis; four brothers and five sisters .

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2018, 5:00 p.m ., at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James L. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, February 26, 2018, 10:00 a.m., in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
