Joseph Preston Smith, Sr., 89, Paducah, died at his residence on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 7:05 a.m.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a Retired Supervisor of the City of Paducah Refuse Department. He was also owner of his own car detailing business, a member of Rosary Chapel and its Men's Club, a Duke of Paducah and member of the Pride of Paducah Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his son Joseph P. Smith, Jr. of Paducah; four daughters, Beulah Morris, Jean Stokes and Wanda Crowdus, all of Paducah and Pamela Smith of Columbia, South Carolina; 13 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Mae Tharpe Smith, his parents Thomas Smith and Ida Smith, his daughter Barbara Jo Smith and two grandchildren.
Services will be on Friday at Rosary Chapel, 1:00 P.M., friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour..
