Joseph M. Askew, age 68, of Paducah, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018, 1:30 a.m.

He was a member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served in the Brotherhood and in the church maintenance department.  He was a graduate of the former Lincoln High School and was owner & operator of JQ Construction Company.

He is survived by two sons , Chris McGee and Steven Martin, both of Paducah; two daughters , Valerie Wiley of Austin, TX and Stephanie Wright of Gary, IN; eight grandchildren ; two brothers , Joe Dick Askew of Gary IN and Donald Askew of Paducah; five sisters , Ann McPherson, Celia Askew-Davenport, Germaine Taylor and Tamyra Askew, all of Paducah and Sarah Askew of Salinas, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Askew and Lexie Parchman Askew; three sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 18, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Reverend Benessa Perkins-Sweat will officiate with burial to follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
