Johnny Lee Hollis left this earthly life from the Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY, at 4:59 p.m., on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Johnny was born to Haskell Hollis and Willie Florence Burton in Paducah on December 20, 1944. Since his birth, he had travelled life's highway here on earth for 78 years and 6 months.
Johnny was a faithful and dedicated member of Rosary Chapel Catholic Church. He had served faithfully as an usher, a lector, and president of the Parish Council.
Johnny received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Murray State University and was a supervisor of maintenance at the United States Enrichment Cooperation. He served his patriotic duty with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Johnny, "THE CHIEF" , as he was known by both his family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an avid bowler, a member of the Pacesetters League, and played golf whenever the mood hit him. He entertained others with his playing of the guitar and could also shoot pool with the best.
Johnny is survived by His Loving Wife of 57 Years , Lauretta Motley Hollis of Paducah, KY; One Son , Anthony Hollis, Sr. of Bone Gap, IL; Four Grandchildren , Chyna Hollis of Paducah, KY, Anthony Hollis, Jr. of Brookport, IL, Romeo Hollis of Colorado, CO, and Matthew Roberts of Paducah, KY; Six Great-Grandchildren , Kariona Sims of Paducah, KY, Armoni Hollis, Alkira Hollis, Anthony Hollis III, Andris Hollis and Aaron "Chicken" Hollis, all of Brookport, IL; Several Cousins and Friends including Charles Davis and Winfred Nunn, both of Paducah, KY and Don Bell of Oak Ridge, TN.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell Hollis and Willie Florence Burton; two brothers, David Jackson and George Jackson; maternal grandparents, Earnest and Mary Burton; and three aunts, Lonnie Sue Crockett, Rosie Jackson and Mary Jackson.
Johnny Lee Hollis will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew him as the great person that he was.
A Funeral Mass has been set for Friday, June 30, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Rosary Chapel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may call on the family at the church on Thursday, June 29, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral mass hour.
The Mass will be livestreamed on the Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home, LLC Facebook Page beginning at 10:45 a.m. (CST).
