"Mackie" Mcmullin
February 2, 1954 – January 27, 2023
John Quintin McMullin, age 68, of Mayfield, Kentucky, transitioned peacefully from his earthly home on Friday, January 27, 2023, at his residence.
John McMullin, also known as "Mackie", was the only child of the late Johnny McMullin and the late Nellie Rowland McMullin. He was born on February 2, 1954, in Mayfield, KY. At a young age, he attended Second Christian Church in Mayfield.
John served faithfully in the United States Army and was formerly employed in Production's at Pilgrim's Pride in Mayfield.
"Mackie" was known for minding his own business, but he had several things he enjoyed doing for relaxation. Among those favorite things was watching sports on television from the comfort of his favorite recliner. He loved playing softball, running, listening to old school R&B, collecting rocks, drawing sketches, traveling, riding his bike and watching horse races. He cherished the relationship he had with his son and grandchildren, and his heart truly belonged to his longtime companion, Beverly Duffy. He also shared a special bond with Phyllis Galbreath, a longtime friend.
"Mackie" is survived by one son , Michael Murrell; his companion of 49 years , Beverly Duffy; five grandchildren , Ja'Qayla Murrell, Tymeshia Murrell, Sanaa Aram, Za'Riyah Murrell, and Aiyonna Burton, all of Mayfield, KY; and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by not only his parents, but also his maternal grandmother, Nora Rowland, three uncles, Robert Rowland, Otis Rowland, Luther B. Rowland, three aunts, Katherine Jones, Dora Mae Duffy and Lina Rowland.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Oak Rest Cemetery in Mayfield, Kentucky with Military Honors. Brother Thomas Todd officiating.
There will be no visitation.
