A Journey of Life

Jimmy L. Harber penned the last chapter of his life story on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 6:45 a.m., at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. His life story began in Corinth, Mississippi, with his birth on June 9, 1942, to his loving parents, James Harber and Esther Patterson Harber. This life story lasted for 79 years, 2 months and 22 days.

Jimmy united with the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a driver on the Van Ministry. He attended West Kentucky Vocational School where he was certified in masonry. Jimmy had also been employed with Paducah Power as a meter reader and bill collector. Jimmy was a member in good standing with Stone Square Lodge #5, F&AM, PHA.

Jimmy L. Harber met and married his bride, the late Corine Riley Harber, on June 9, 1963, and remained as husband and wife for 56 years.

Jimmy was always a sharp dressed man who would shop for what he knew would keep him up to date in fashions. He was one to listen to his favorite sounds in music and would work with his flowers, keeping his property looking freshly manicured. One of Jimmy's favorite activities was traveling, especially each year to the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he enjoyed having fun and visiting with family and friends.

Jimmy's presence will be forever loved and missed by: His Two Daughters , Alisa H. (Rodney) Smith of Paducah, KY and Christi Harber, of Chicago, IL ; One Son , Howard (Rita) Houston of Paducah, KY ; Five Grandchildren , Roderic Smith, Jalisa Smith, Joya Smith, Chelsea Houston, and Larry Arnold, All of Paducah, KY ; One Sister , Brenda (William) Harris of Paducah, KY ; Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends .

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Corine Riley Harber, his parents, James Harber and Esther Patterson Harber and one brother Louis Harber.

Jimmy L. Harber will be remembered for the great man he was to every one of whom he came in contact.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2021, 12:00 noon, at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with Rev.'s Calvin R. Cole, Sr. and Donna G. Hawkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday with Masonic Rites to begin at 10:30 a.m. visitation will follow at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Masonic Rites are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
