James Albert Shaw, age 83, Paducah, Kentucky passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 12:47 pm at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Shaw was a member of St. John A. M. E. Church, where he served as Past Steward, Trustee, and sang in the choir. He was a graduate of West Kentucky State Vocational School and received certification in Management from Paducah Community College. He was employed with the City of Paducah in the City Refuse Department for 35 years and retired as a Director of Refuse. Shaw also was employed for 26 years with Rolling Hills Country Club and was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Dean Kizer Shaw, his parents, Lawrence Shaw and George Wilson Foree; one son, Gregory Shaw, his step-mother, Louella Shaw, one granddaughter, two sisters, and one brother.

He is survived by six daughters, Yolanda Patterson, Upper Marlboro, MD, Sondra Shaw -McGrew, Dallas, TX, Anitha Davis, Metropolis, IL, Deborah Shaw, Brenda Cooper, and Glenda Shaw, all of Paducah, KY; one brother, Cletus Shaw, Toledo, OH; 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 1:00 P.M. at the Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church 1324 Bloomfield Avenue, Paducah, Kentucky, with Reverend Alfred Anderson and Reverend Kelvin D. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Military Rites.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home, 1229 Madison Street, Paducah, Kentucky and Wednesday after 11:00 a.m. at the church.
