He was a member of First Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and West Kentucky Vocational Technical School.

He is survived by Six Sons , Jimone Waddell of Hopkinsville, KY; Jamel Pickett, Kissimmee, FL; Meco Lassiter, Nashville, TN, Junis Duffy of Lousiville, KY, James "Jamie" Dawson III and Jarrett Riley both  of Paducah, KY; Two Daughters, Javonda Bacon of Hopkinsville, KY and Janise Dawson of Paducah; One Brother , Jary Dawson of Paducah, KY; Two sisters , Javanta Dawson of Hopkinsville, KY and Jana Dawson of Paducah; Fourteen Grandchildren; one uncle, Austin White of Hopkinsville, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His memory will be cherished by the love of his life, his dog, CoCo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Irvin Dawson, Sr. and Martha White Dawson.

Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Wade officiating.
