James Henry Greer, 86, of Lanham, MD, formerly of Paducah, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, 7:18 PM at Prince George's Hospital in Cheverley, MD.

Mr. Greer was a lifelong member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, a church van driver, and on culinary arts committee.

Mr. Greer was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Maintenance Engineer for Lourdes Hospital and as a forklift driver for the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Willie Mae Greer,one daughter, Leola Greer, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Greer is survived by, his wife, Rosetta M. Greer, Lanham, MD, three daughters, Patricia Greer Douglas, Indianapolis, IN, Gezelle Oliver, Lansing, MI, and Cordelia Greer, Kalamazoo, MI; three sons, James M. Greer, Pontiac, MI, Michael Greer, CA, and Andre Greer, Lansing, MI; one sister, Shirley Rouse, Paducah; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend James L. Hudson and Reverend Charles W. Russell officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at the church.
