James Edward Bowman, 53, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Metropolis, Illinois where he served as an usher. He was presently employed as an Operator with Honeywell Allied Signal. Bowman was formerly employed by the City of Metropolis and WDDJ Radio Broadcasting. He coached in the Khoury League basketball and baseball teams.
He was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and West Kentucky State Vocational-Technical School in electronics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Hardy Bowman and Sallie Mae Jones Bowman and three brothers.
Bowman is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon P. Bowman, Metropolis, IL; two sons, Billy Ray Cooley of Tucson, AZ and Aaron Edward Bowman of Metropolis, IL; four Grandchildren; three sisters, Ollie Mae Herring of Indianapolis, IN, Dianna Gray and Katherine Bronaugh both of Hopkinsville, KY; three brothers, Leroy Davie, Clarence Henry Bowman and Gary Wayne Bowman all of Hopkinsville, KY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2011, 1:00 P.M. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 413 West 7th Street, Metropolis, IL with Rev. Garnell Edwards officiating and burial to follow in Masonic Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:00A.M. until the funeral hour.
