Henrietta Simmons Tivis, 66, Paducah, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, 12:57 A.M., at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board and the Culinary Arts Committee and was a former member of the choir. She attended Draughon's Business College and was formerly employed at Harrah's Casino in environmental services.
She is survived by a daughter, Gernise Hughes of Paducah; a son, Donald Lee Tivis of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren; four brothers, George Simmons, Robert Simmons, Tommy Simmons, and Timothy Simmons, all of Paducah; four sisters, Alfordteen Freeman, Peggy Wade, and Doris Allen all of Paducah and Gladys Ball of Chattanooga, TN; one uncle; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Tivis, her parents William Henry Simmons and Dorothy Campbell Simmons, and a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, 1:00 p.m., at New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend W.G. Harvey and Reverend Michael Wade officiating, and burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. with special visitation from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
