IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgia Mae
Moss
March 22, 1938 – November 17, 2021
On Tuesday, March 22, 1938, in Paducah, Kentucky, the Lord granted Jessie George Vinson and Lottie Glenn Vinson a baby girl named Georgia Mae Vinson who became known to all her siblings and friends as "Georgia Mae", "Georgia M" and "Mossy".
After living a fruitful and eventful life, she answered the call of her heavenly Father. Georgia Mae transitioned to enjoy her well-earned eternal rest from her daughter and son-in-law's home on Wednesday November 17th at 6:24 a.m., at the blessed age of 83 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Waiting to meet her with open arms were her husband, Charles J. Moss, Jr.; son, Anthony J. Moss; her parents, Jessie George and Lottie L. Glenn Vinson and her sister Mildred "Skippy" Broady.
"Georgia Mae" was a member of Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Usher Ministry. Serving was her calling and she took that ministry seriously. Georgia retired from the Paducah City School System as the food service manager at McNabb Elementary School. In this role, she nourished the lives and souls of countless students that walked thru her lunch line and so many share memories of the "extra" Love she showed them.
After enjoying retirement, she later became a funeral attendant for Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home. In both careers, she earned the title and distinction of "The Warden," due to her strict adherence to etiquette, rules, and regulations. She had a penchant to say what she meant and meant what she said.
Georgia Mae was a fancy dresser, outstanding cook, loving wife, and mother to her children. Georgia also loved her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Granny", "Hanny", "Grandma" and "Gran". She had a passion for the food network channel and was the cross-word puzzle "Queen". She was also one of the first recipients of the NAACP Rosa Parks Power of One Award and a Duchess of Paducah.
