Obituary

Geneieve V. Ocap-Ricks, 38, placed her 3 Sai Prong in her Heavenly Father's Hands from her residence on Ingleside Road in Kevil, KY, and walked away pain-free after fighting A Battle with Cancer and succumbing to its inflicted injuries on January 20, 2016.

Gen, as she was lovingly called, was born to Loreta and Moore Ocap on May 31, 1977, on the northeast side of the the island of Mindanao, Phillipines. She did a great deal of studies streaming from health care to herbal farming. Shortly after the death of her father, she took on the responsibility of seeing that her siblings have some of life's best opportunities. She then accepted employment as a lead singer in one of Osaka Japan's top bands and was able to connect with her soon to be husband, Javid, and earn more than enough to send two sisters to college to obtain their masters in business administration. Gen shared the stage with Arnel Pineda in 2007 prior to his joining the band Journey. It is often said that the fire lit from the ancient families often gave her such push. Loreta was the daughter of a full-blooded Japanese war hero and her late husband Moore's father was a full-blooded Chinese, fully skilled in martial arts, aiding to the refined character of Geneieve V. Ocap-Ricks.

As a Christian, Geneieve attended the Cairo, Illinois Congregatin of Jehovah's Witnesses where she loved the engulfment of Warmness and the Promise of her Father Jehovah God Paradise Resurrection Teaching, "A Time When Pain and Sickness is Washed Away and the Evil Doers are no more.

Lil Taishien who has always been around the Ocaps received his adoption papers four weeks prior to Gen's fatal crisis. Taishien was accepted in the family's home when a band member had an unplanned pregnancy. As it is recalled, she couldn't let the little baby go. So the rest is history. Y'all hold 'em high; he's a Ricks now as well and will be loved 'til the end of time.

She leaves behind her most beloved husband of five years, 51 year old Javid E. Ricks of Kevil and his parents Dolores and Willie J Ricks of Paducah; two brothers-in-law, Jason K. Ricks of Oklahoma and Darrell C. Ricks of Paducah; one sister-in-law, Debbie Ricks; one niece, Dara of Ohio; three nephews, Kaylup and Troy, both of Paducah and Eric Tyson of Arizona; foremost and never last, her adopted mother and close friend, Ms. Dotty Benton, better known to Gen as "Mama Dotty" of Kevil; two sisters, Lezil of Singapore and Mae of the Netherlands; three brothers, Marlon, a fisherman, Marvin, a city worker, and Marlow, a long-shore man, all primarily residing in the surrounding area of Pagadian City; close friends, Cielo, Kim Howelland Donna Steele, all of Kevil, Amelia Hendon, Ging Ging, both of Paducah, Arcel of Hendron, Josie of Louisville, Chue of Pagadian City, Rynel of British Columbia, Christy Fondaq of Monkey Eyebrow, plus the so many sisters and brothers in her faith.

In her heart she holds us all, but very few emit light, her nieces and nephews, Dot, Dune Dune and lovely Ms. N'dae.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Genevieve on Thursday, January 28, 2016, 12:00 Noon, at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home. Brother Danny Logan will serve up Comforting Scriptures on behalf of the family's deep sorrows and loss. At the request of Gen's family, ATTENDANCE SHALL BE BY INVITATION ONLY. Attendees may bring a single rose, but please no large vases or plants.

We would like to thank the Fluor Professional DEAC TEAM for their support in surrounding Javid in a manner which acted as wings to his heavy heart. They knew he didn't want to be reminded of what may turn further unpleasant. A few morning jokes along with frontline manager, Tom Busclas' prejob briefings coupled by safety awareness continued just as most assignments, gradually taking the sharp edges off days ahead. Again we say, "Thank you all."

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Taishien Ocap-Ricks College Fund. Please make checks payable to Genevieve V. Ricks, C/O Lil Taishien Ocap-Ricks, P.O. Box 453, Kevil, KY 42053.
