Frances Askew "Cookie" Martin, 54, of Paducah, died on Saturday, February 5, 2011, 12:45 p.m., at Western Baptist Hospital.
Frances was a member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and was a 1974 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. She was formerly employed as a nurse aide at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and as a bus monitor with the Paducah City School System.
She is survived by three sons, Antonio Askew, Omar Martin, and Keenan Martin, all of Paducah; five sisters, Celia Askew Davenport, Ann McPherson, Germaine Taylor, Tamara Askew, all of Paducah, and Sarah Askew of Salinas, CA; four brothers, George Askew, Joseph Askew, Donald Askew, all of Paducah, and Joe D. Askew of Gary, IN; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one aunt; twenty-three nieces; twelve nephews; and several great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Martin, her parents Horace Askew, Sr. and Lexie Parchman Askew, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 635 Ohio Street, on Saturday, February 12, 12:00 Noon, with Reverend Rita Story and Reverend Kenneth J. Golphin offici-ating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may also call at the church on Saturday after 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
