Esther Ruth Tharpe began her walk on Heaven's Streets of Gold from Baptist Health Paducah at 3:11 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024.  She began her eternal life at her new Heavenly Home at the blessed age of 65 years, 1 month and 21 days of earthly existence.  Esther was born to the union of the late Cleo Tharpe, Jr. and  Dorothy Dean House Tharpe in Mayfield, Kentucky on September 6, 1959.

Esther was an active and devoted member of Trinity New Hope Christian Church where she had served as choir director, Sunday school teacher, and as a member of the Christian Women Fellowship (CWF).  She was a graduate of Mayfield High School and became employed with the Community Hospital as a nurse's aide and went back to school in 1995 to become certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and went on to serve in this capacity for 25 years.  At the end of her nursing career Esther worked in the personal care field as a caregiver to many elderly people until her health began to fail.

Esther, one whose family was her joy, loved her great nieces and nephews and was a "mother" to many in the community.  She took great joy and pleasure in her senior care ministry and was known far and wide as a "good caretaker".  All in all, Esther was a person whose life was thoroughly dedicated to helping others.  She also enjoyed gardening, especially planting her flowers, collecting dolls, singing in the church choir, and listening to a wide variety of gospel and old soul touching spiritual  music.  In addition, let us not forget Esther's chess squares that pleased so many palates in the purchase area and beyond.

Esther leaves to cherish her many memories:  Her Daughter, Jessica Tharpe and Her Son, Ethan Tharpe, both of Mayfield, KY; Her Grand Puppy, Levi; Her Siblings, Pearl Payne of Murray, KY, Saundra Blythe of Mayfield, KY, Don (Linda) Tharpe of Nicholasville, KY, and  Deborah Tharpe and Paula Tharpe, both of Murray, KY; A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Esther Ruth Tharpe will forever be remembered for the love and devotion she so unselfishly gave to all of whom she came in contact whether at work or through her personal acquaintances.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024 1:00 p.m. at Trinity New Hope Christian Church in Mayfield, KY with Brother Larry Jamison officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Valley Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
