Dwayne Franklin "Strayhorn" Springer, 64 of Paducah, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 9:55 a.m., at his residence.
He was a member of Little's Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and West Kentucky Vocational School with a certification in Auto Mechanics. Springer was formerly employed by Triangle Enterprises Inc., Beasley Auto Parts, and Bernie's Tree Cutting Service.
He was preceded in death by his father Lossie B. Strayhorn and step father Sid Cogdell.
Springer is survived by his mother, Karen Cogdell, Paducah, KY; one brother, Kenneth Cogdell, one sister, Lawanda McKinney both of Paducah, KY; Several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 1:00 P.M., at Little's Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3360 Little Grove Road, Lavinia, Tennessee, with Reverend Robert Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Little's Grove Cemetery in Lavinia, TN.
The family will receive visitors Friday, April 1, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home, 1229 Madison Street, Paducah, Kentucky, and at the church on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
