Obituary

Douglas M. Torian, a resident of Brookport, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. At the time of his passing, he had traveled 76 years, 1l months and 23 days around the sun.

Douglas was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on February 3, 1948. His parents were the late Fred Torian and the late Roberta Fergerson Torian. He started his Christian faith journey at Gordonville Baptist Church in Merrittown, Kentucky, and later became a member of New Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky. He faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Douglas graduated from Christian County High School where he played football and was a track star. Later, he received certification in auto mechanics from West Kentucky Vocational Technical College. His previous employment was at Gerdau Ameristeel, formerly known as North Star Steel, in Calvert City, Kentucky where he worked as a crane operator.

When Douglas wasn't on the job operating his crane, he liked to work on cars, ride motorcycles, and go fishing. His personality was unforgettable. He was known for using his slick tongue to debate and instigate arguments, and he enjoyed every bit of it. However, the softer side of him was displayed in his love for his family. He had a special bond with his grandchildren who lovingly called him "PaPa."

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna Virgina Torian.

Wood of Fort Worth, Texas, Keith E. Wade of Bardwell, Kentucky, Lonnie (Beverly) Wade of Paducah, Kentucky, and Ronald (Selisa) Horne of Columbia, Missouri; One Daughter, Gail (Sammy) Jones of Brookport, Illinois; a host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Three Brothers, James Torian  and Luther Torian both of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Dean Torian of Radcliff, Kentucky; One Sister, Costella Jenkins of Los Angeles, California; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends; and Special Friends, Hank Henderson, John Brady George, Grady Leslie, Ernie Burton, Robert Morris, and Larry Agnew.
