Dorothy Mae Jones Taylor entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 8:40 p.m. from her residence in Paducah. At the time of her passing Dorothy was 86 years, one month and six days old.

Dorothy, the daughter of the late Frank Jones and Estelle Dance Jones, was a member of Ware Memorial Church of God in Christ where she served as a church mother, a Sunday School teacher and member of the Sewing Circle.

Dorothy was the epitome of the "Queen Mother." She was a homemaker who never stopped raising children because someone else's child or group of children was always around to enjoy her delicious cooking. Many of her fabulous meals were made with ingredients from her huge vegetable garden that she shared with anyone who wanted to enjoy the fruits of her labor. She loved to cook, sing, canning fruits and vegetables and sew. Because she was such a skilled seamstress, she made quite a few of her children's clothing. She will always be remembered for taking great care of her husband.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Sammie E. Taylor, her parents, one brother, Douglas Ferguson; and her maternal grandparents, Joe and Rosetta Dance.

Left to cherish sweet memories of her are two sons: David Taylor and Mark Taylor both of Paducah, KY; three daughters: Gloria Dean Colvin of Indianapolis, IN, Vanessa Mae Knight of Paducah, KY, and Denise Marshall of West Paducah, KY; and an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 23, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Ware Memorial Church of God in Christ with Dr. Marshall Chambers officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
